Würzburger Stein | VDP.ERSTE LAGE

In the world-famous vineyard, shaped like a shell overlooking Würzburg, there is virtually a Mediterranean climate. The soil is formed by weathered shelly limestone as a sedimentary rock from the ancient ocean, which has a unique influence on the name of the site and the character of the wines. A good 1/3 of the 85 ha vineyard is owned by the Bürgerspital. But it is the great wines that make the vineyard so famous. Whether once the 1540 Steinwein, the first Silvaner in 1665, the first historical Bocksbeutel bottling in 1726 or the great wines today: Steinwein is very complex with mineral aromas, almost salty and highly polarizing. They regularly appear on the  best wine lists around the world.
